The volume of a shipment is calculated by multiplying the Width by the Height by the Depth.

The volume is used by Freight Forwarders to calculate the cost of a shipment and below is a rough guide on the volume to weight equivalence they use to determine costs.

• Air Freight - EQUIVALENCE: 1 Cubic Metre = 167Kg

• Road Freight - EQUIVALENCE: 1 Cubic Metre = 300Kg

• Sea Freight - EQUIVALENCE: 1 Cubic Metre = 1,000Kg
